Matthew has responded well to the new round of antibiotics (though the doctors wont necessarily concede that that is why he is doing better.) He still had a fever of 103 last night but it did not last long and all his vital signs have been really good all day long. They thought they might take the tube out tonight but decided to give him a little more time and do it in the morning.
The chest tube is already removed and this morning's chest X-Ray was pretty clear (dramatic improvement from 2 days prior.) He has quite a bit of gas in his belly but his fluid level is good. He is getting a little prune juice tonight to help him....well...you know.
So, if all goes well tonight they will pull the breathing tube out Sunday and I will be able to hold my little man again. He will still have a couple lines for medication access and lots of monitoring wires but that's ok!
Goodnight to all,
Lori
