Matthew is still in the PICU and still has the breathing tube and chest tube. He had a good night but then spiked a fever this afternoon and his blood pressure dropped (again). They have finally decided to give him a second antibiotic because he appears to have an unidentified infection that the antibiotic he is on is not taking care of yet. After they ordered the antibiotic his fever did break but they are still going to give it to him because he keep spiking fevers daily.
Its very frustrating just sitting around waiting for something to happen. Every day he seems better and then takes a step back. He is stable but just not getting better as they would have hoped by now. He gets so agitated each time he "wakes" from the sedation that they have to keep him sleeping as long as the breathing tube is in place. He still needs to get the fluid level around his lungs down before that can happen.
Continued prayers are appreciated. I'm taking the night off and staying at home with Mikey and Mary (second night at home in 10 days). Unfortunately Mary, Mikey and I all seem to have caught a cold. So far it seems mild enough but I'll need a good nights rest to get over it quicker.

ReplyDeleteLori many continued prayers for you and your family. Hope you can get some much-needed rest and keep that cold at bay and that the second anti-biotic will do the trick for Matthew. Please let me know if there is anything we can do...run errands for you, help out with Mary and Mikey, just let me know. Hugs, Jen D.
