The surgery is over and Matthew is in the PICU recovering. It was a very long day. About when we thought everything would be done they called from surgery to tell us they needed to fix one more thing because after they did the echo they saw too much leakage in one of his repaired valves. They fixed most of the leakage but he still has some, which is ok.
Seeing him in the PICU was a little overwhelming. So many tubes, machines and wires for a 10 pound baby. But, all the nurses and doctors tell us that he is doing well. He is resting comfortably under heavy sedation. They will hopefully remove his breathing tube tomorrow morning.
For now, keep up the prayers as they are working! I'm going to try and get some sleep (at the hospital family center). Mike, Mary, Mikey and Grandma and Grandpa Huhn should be sleeping at home right now as well!
