The surgeon was happy with the repair. He had to remove the old patch and correct the positioning in order to fix the hole. He also was able to work on the mitral valve to reduce the amount of leakage. Pressures in the heart and lungs appear to better and they are hopeful Matthew will recover just fine this time around.
We finally got to see Matthew around 9 PM last night. Today he is still heavily sedated and under a paralyzing drug while his body rests. The next few days will be hard on him but he is a fighter!
