If all goes well overnight they are going to take the breathing tube out Thursday morning. Matthew is doing well with the weaning thus far. After the tube comes out they will probably try feeding again (he has had IV fluids and nutrition but no formula since Friday morning). He needs to prove that he can eat and eliminate and maintain good pressures and pulses. Today they did determine that he has an infection in his respiratory tract so he is receiving an antibiotic (again). It appears the original infection may not have been cured completely.
Here's hoping 3 times is the charm!
